What is a Dental Veneer?
Veneers are thin pieces of durable, tooth-shaped porcelain that are custom-made to match the shape and colour of your teeth by a dental laboratory.
At James Bay Dental, our dentists use veneers to help create a more uniform smile for our patients. Veneers are place in your mouth by your dentist. They bond the restoration to the front of your natural tooth to change the symmetry, shape, or colour of your smile.
Lumineers®
At James Bay Dental, we offer Lumineers to our patients. Lumineers are thin veneers that can often be placed with little to no removal of the natural tooth structure.
How Veneers Work
Your dentist will take an impression of your teeth which will be used to create your custom veneers.
Once your veneers have been made, they will be bonded to the fronts of your natural teeth.
Made from a razor-thin piece of porcelain, veneers are custom-shaped to match your tooth. The porcelain imitates the natural translucency of tooth enamel and has a very natural look and feel.
Features of Veneers
If you are looking to alter the shape of individual teeth or the evenness of your whole smile, you may want to consider dental veneers as a less-intrusive alternative to dental crowns.
Problems that dental veneers can help resolve include worn, crooked, or discoloured teeth. They can also reduce unwanted spacing and change the size of your teeth.
Dental veneers can last for many years if cared for properly.
